At the 2010 American Geophysical Union meeting in San Francisco, Robert Irion ran a workshop on science writing. His list of recommended reading includes:

To that, I’d add reading the most popular journals in your field, writing as often as possible (writer’s write), and regularly re-reading Strunk & White’s Elements of Style.
