Fly-By Geomorphology: U-Shaped Valley

U-Shaped Valley

Glacial Valley: glaciers cut U-shaped valleys with walls and wide, gently-curved floors. The topography is rounded below the (former) iceline, while sharply jagged above the (former) iceline. In the cirque (rounded bowl at the valley termination), a tiny glacier remains, melting to feed the foreground stream.
